November Fave Fives: The Little Things!

November’s Fave Fives are all about the little things in life. Of course, we’re all grateful for friends, family, and amazing readers (I’m talking to you!), but this month, I wanted to know about the little things my friends are thankful for. Whether it’s the last cookie in the jar or a pair of jeans that fit perfectly, some of their answers may surprise you!

Born with a silver tongue and a pen in her hand, Kali spends her days sleeping (she's part vampire) and her nights crafting scandalous romances with larger-than-life heroes.

Self-proclaimed patron goddess of reclusiveness, Kali currently resides in the Midwest with her oddly supportive family and tragically misunderstood cat.

Seriously, though, the cat is evil.

Oh, the little things. After a year of ups and downs, career-altering decisions, and a hectic schedule that nearly put me on my ass, I have a much deeper appreciation for all of those little things in life. So here they are, in no particular order:
  • Peanut butter. Yes, really. I can use it to make sandwiches, cookies, truffles, or just eat it straight from the jar with a spoon.
  • Supernatural. I only started watching the show a couple of months ago, but with 9 seasons to binge watch on Netflix, it quickly became one of my favorites.
  • Quiet mornings. Since my husband works from home, and we have two pre-teen boys, quiet isn’t something you’ll find a lot of in my house. Since I work at night and sleep during the day, quiet mornings when the rest of the neighborhood is at work are heaven.
  • When my hair fixes itself. I’ve had naturally curly/wavy hair my entire life, and it NEVER wants to do anything I tell it to. Imagine how happy I was when messy waves suddenly became in vogue!
  • Day without homework. I love my kids and I love how smart they are. But with one child with Autism and the other in Advanced Placement, homework is a huge ordeal every night. I breathe a little sigh of relief every day they step off the bus without homework.

Sometimes, new beginnings come from unexpected places.

To Cecily Baker, being unattached means making her own decisions, living by her own rules, and never answering to anyone. So when her sister drags her to a singles night at a local club--and then ditches her--it only strengthens Cecily's conviction that dating just isn't for her.

Pulling double duty as a bouncer and a bartender, Rafe Serento has seen a parade of beautiful women walk through the doors of Electric Mist, but he's never met anyone like Cecily. Lovely in every sense of the word, and just as stubborn, she challenges everything he thought he wanted in a relationship.

The more Cecily pushes him away, though, the harder Rafe pushes back, and unless they find some common ground, they'll both end up Alone.

Lacey Thorn spends her days in small town Indiana the proud mother of three. When she is not busy with one of them she can be found typing away on her computer keyboard or burying her nose in a good book. Like every woman she knows just how chaotic life can be and how appealing that great escape can look. So toss aside the stress and tension of the never ending to do list. For now sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride with Lacey. It’s your world…unlaced.

  • Social Media: Though time consuming and at times frustrating, it has allowed me to meet some really amazing people and make friends all over the world!
  • Coffee: Iced, frozen, or hot. Mhmm
  • Fuzzy socks: Because they’re fuzzy!
  • Cami tops: I live in these year round. One word: comfy!
  • Fluffy pillows: No matter where I sit to write, I want a fluffy pillow at my back! My bed has no less than five, often more.

He's only human...

The only thing Logan despises more than a weak man is one who preys on others. He finds himself in a battle between a group of people he never dreamed existed, and those who want them dead.

A captured lioness...

Clara has always known she carried the spirit of a lioness within her. An impulsive quest finds her at the mercy of a man she's spent her entire life hearing of. She wants to claim her place as part of his pride, but to do so means turning her back on the one who reared her.

One look at Clara has Logan chomping at the bit to protect her. Every moment spent together assures him she feels the same. She's the one with a beast inside, but he's the one feeling territorial. Every glance has his chest swelling with primal need. Every touch sends one word echoing through his mind. Soon he'll show her exactly what it means to belong.

I fell in love with romance novels years ago and read everything I could get my hands on, from alternative to ménage and everything in between. Thousands of books later, I’m still an avid reader on the lookout for a good book. I love waking up in the morning, getting my iced coffee, and sitting down in front of my laptop. Going on adventures with my characters makes writing the best job on the planet. My hope is that readers will find something positive in every book I write and that they will enjoy the journey along the way. Happy reading.

  • Coffee – morning and night – I’m grateful for this energy inducing elixir.
  • Erotic Romance Books – I’m a huge reader.
  • Text messaging – I love to receive inspirational pictures of half-naked men while writing.
  • Five inch heels – those sexy spikes take my height from 5’2” to 5’7”.
  • Chapstick – I’m addicted to applying multiple times daily

Steve and Brent Perez are married shifters. In the world of paranormals some might think that’s odd considering both men are wolves, but it’s the norm for these two. From a very early age they knew they were meant to be together, despite what their homophobic pack might believe. When the anguish of hiding their mating from friends and family becomes too much, they leave home, traveling around the world performing on stage. While dancing at the Silver Bullet, they are stunned to realize that their mating isn’t complete.

When two gorgeous go-go dancers start checking Jayson North out, he’s not sure what to think. Used to being flirted with in his position as a bartender, Jayson tries to keep his distance. Not an easy feat when the two performers draw him like a magnet. When he learns that they’re mates, Jayson is confused. Since working at the shifter owned bar, he’s learned one major rule – mates are sacred. So why are these two wolves checking him out?

But someone else thinks that Steve and Brent belongs to him and he’s more than willing to get rid of Jayson to keep the two shifters to himself. Mating Jayson is the easy part. Keeping him alive may take more strength than two shifters have.

Erika Reed lives in Southern California with her loving husband and two beautiful daughters. She is very thankful for her family and friends that have been there, supporting her from the beginning of her writing career.

When she is not writing or running her busy household, she enjoys sitting down with her Kindle, reading one of her favorite authors. She enjoys her writing and will continue to surprise her readers with more exotic stories in the future. She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at

  • My cell phone
  • Wi-Fi
  • Coffee/Starbucks
  • Chocolate donuts & Mexican food
  • A quiet house to write in while everyone is at school/work during the day

Five years after running away from the man she loved, Peyton Montgomery is coming home.

With nowhere to live, no money in the bank, and still stinging from being served her divorce papers, Peyton is returning to help her mother care for her father after a heart attack. Being back means eventually she’ll run into the man that broke her heart and ruined her for anyone else. When they do cross paths, Peyton soon discovers she wasn’t the only one that lost so much after she left.

Because of one drunken mistake, Jackson Holt lost the woman he loved. Now he has a second chance at mending the relationship he once had with Peyton, but he has a confession he needs to get off his chest before they both can move forward and claim the life and the love they lost the night Peyton left.

Not only do I love to read, write, and dream, I'm an extrovert. I enjoy being around people and am always trying to understand what makes them tick. Not only must my books have a happily ever after, I need characters I can relate to. My men are wonderful, dynamic, smart, strong, and the best lovers in the world (of course).

You'll find me most days on my chaise lounge with my laptop and my iced tea(unsweetened!) on the side table. I love to sleep in late and write into the wee hours. I also love FB, so you'll find me on there, too!

I love hearing from readers either on FB or via email (hint, hint).

You can contact me at

  • When I find money in a pocket or purse that I’d forgotten I’d put there.
  • When I can fit in a pair of jeans I owned a long, long time ago that I thought I’d never fit in again.
  • When I sneak a piece of candy and don’t get a headache.
  • I pull into a parking lot that’s totally full, and someone pulls out of his spot right in front of me.
  • I’m thankful for that power bar that I put in my purse week’s ago.

If you really want something, you have to go after it.

Dina Banks wanted to buy the building that housed her dress boutique. And she did. Because her brother was a contractor, she asked him to renovate the top two floors for her new home. Her dream was getting closer. Then her brother had to go and ask his partner, Alex Hendrix, to do the work- and that was bad. Why? Because since the age of five Dina has had a crush on Alex.

Dating his co-workers’ sister is dumb, but when their paths cross after many years, Alex has a hard time keeping his distance. He plans to be professional only until the remodel is complete. Then he’ll chase his dream.

Is he successful? Nope.

The attraction is too strong and they give into their urges. When complications derail their budding affair, can their awakening passions keep them on the path to love?

Susan lives out on the Canadian west coast surrounded by open water, dear family and good friends. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidently swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef.

If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too damned short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.

To contact her about her books or to arrange end of the world team-ups, you can email her at

  • Coffee. A few weeks ago I was on vacation and the hotel didn’t provide coffee gratis. You had to order it from room service for a price that made my Scottish side weep, so I had to forgo my morning ritual for a few days. My first morning home, I swear I hugged my Keurig coffee machine.
  • Ice cream. There is no day so terrible, no event so traumatic, that chocolate ice cream can’t help fix it.
  • Sunshine in winter. I live on the Canadian west coast, which means sunshine is a rare commodity once November comes. A hint of blue sky or a patch of sunlight, no matter how brief, is cause for stampeding to the window/outside to bask in the glory of true daylight for a few seconds before the world returns to its usual overcast grey.
  • High quality moisturizer. I’m in my mid-forties. A good anti-aging cream is the only thing stopping my laugh lines from deepening into crevasses that would rival the Grand Canyon.
  • Getting carded. While on vacation (yes, the same one where I learned how much I love coffee) I actually got carded on the way into a night club. I could have hugged the kid who asked for my ID, because it’s probably the last time in my life that I will have anyone even consider the possibility I’m less than twenty-one years old. (And now you see why I am grateful for good skin cream…)

Nick Wilde is a man content with his life. Business at his tattoo shop is booming, and he’s never lacking for friends or female company. But when he meets Lia, he knows everything will change...

A moment’s flirtation and a kiss in the dark leaves Nick wanting more. When his Cinderella vanishes before the night is over, she leaves him nothing but her name and the memory of a kiss he can’t forget.

Chicago Police Detective Lia Archer’s life doesn’t have room for distractions, and that’s exactly what Nick Wilde is. He’s sexy, charming, and a threat to everything she’s worked so hard to achieve. She ran out on him once, but when Nick reappears in her life, he’s determined not to make it easy for her to vanish on him again.

When past decisions and old secrets come back to haunt them, will the fairytale end, or will they find a way to reclaim their Happily Ever After?

Jana Downs lives in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina with three cats, one dog, several dozen fish, and a very understanding partner-in-crime who hates to read but makes exceptions for her stories.

You can usually find her either watching bad reality TV, buying way too many books on Amazon, or dreaming up another man or two to occupy her time because life is good but several drop-dead gorgeous nonexistent men is just better.

Ah, the little things. Those are the things you can cling to when everything else in life seems as hard as ice skating uphill. The five little things that I am most grateful for are as follows:

  • When I’m having a really bad day and someone makes me laugh for the first time. There is nothing more relieving than the first giggle after an obnoxious afternoon.
  • The first soda of the day. Okay, I have an addiction and can’t help but let this one make the list. There is little that is tastier than a ice cold pop poured over ice.
  • Binge-watching Netflix all weekend long. Curling up on the couch with junkfood and watching Netflix may well be a form of nirvana.
  • Finding my favorite brand of whatever I’m looking for on sale, thus enabling me to buy multiples. Seeing the cash register ring up five of something for the price of one gives me a little thrill, not going to lie.
  • Last but certainly not least, getting a phone call from someone I haven’t talked to in a really long time. Catching up with a friend is always fun.

Steve has been damaged. After being kidnapped, tortured, and then turned, Steve hasn't had the most stable introduction into the world of the pack or wolf shifters in general. Unable to retain his shape and unable to find a way to fix his problem, he tries to end his own life. Luckily, his friends are able to save him, though the only real way out of the darkness is for Steve to move out of it himself and into the light.

Hope has been burned in the past and is on a break from lovers. Little does he know that his first encounter with his new pack member ends up revealing his mate. But Steve comes with a lot of scars and a lot of baggage for someone with enough baggage of his own. Can he convince Steve that love really does conquer all and, more importantly, will Steve allow himself to be truly Healed by Hope?

Jenika Snow is the pseudonym of a mother, wife, and nurse. She lives in the northeast with her husband and their two daughters. Thankfully her husband shares her unusual sense of humor and naughty nature so finding material for her stories isn't a problem.

Jenika started writing at a very young age, and her first story consisted of a young girl who traveled to an exotic island and found a magical doll. That story as long since disappeared, but other have taken its place.

Jenika loves to hear from readers, and encourages them to contact her and give their feedback.

  • I am thankful for my health and my family’s, and that I am able to be home with them to watch them grow.
  • I am thankful for being able to do what I love for a living…writing, because I think I would be lost without it.
  • I am thankful for the little things in life that I might take for granted.
  • I am thankful that I have a community of authors and readers that band together and show each other support.
  • I am thankful for the wonderful support I have from my family, and the fact they love that I write my “porn."

She is forbidden, but that doesn't stop Lucien from wanting her.

Lucien may want Callie desperately, but having her would be a betrayal of Kink and the club.

On her very first school report her teacher said ‘Nicole likes to tell her own stories’.

It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.

Nicole writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. She enjoys taking two characters and creating unique situations for them.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.

  • Getting surprises kisses from my kids
  • My seat warmer in my car on a cold morning
  • My kindle app on my iPhone when I’m waiting to get the kids from school
  • A can of Coca Cola
  • My Denim Jacket.

From Nicole Flockton, author of Bound by her Ring – the last thing he wants is an emotional attachment to his new assistant, but it might be the only thing he truly needs.

Nick Rhodes has been burned before, so when he hires a new assistant, he has one rule: no emotional attachments. On either side. Pamela Bishop is everything he needs in a professional colleague, and comes with an ironclad guarantee – she absolutely will not fall in love with him.

Pamela Bishop has only one goal in her new job: getting on top of the mountain of debts incurred through her mother’s medical expenses. Jeopardising this chance by falling in love with her arrogant, if handsome, employer is the last thing she would ever do.

But as the lure and romance of New York City surrounds them, and Pamela and Nick find themselves spending more and more time together, they can no longer ignore the attraction flaring between them. Nick has always lived by his own rules – can he learn to break them in time to grab this one chance at happiness?

National bestselling author Heather Long likes long walks in the park, science fiction, superheroes, Marines, and men who aren’t douche bags. She writes snarky women tangled in romance as hot as Texas summertime. From paranormal historical westerns to contemporary military romance, Heather might switch genres, but one thing is true in all of her stories—the characters drive the books. When she’s not wrangling her menagerie of animals, Heather devotes herself to her family, remembering a time when her Nan used to read her steamy Harlequin novels instead of picture books. Heather believes if you like your heroes so real you could lick the grit off their chest and your heroines so likable, you’re sure you were friends with someone just like them once, you’ll enjoy her worlds almost as much as she does.

  • I'm grateful for my dogs, even when they tear crap up. Because sloppy wet kisses aside, they love me no matter what my mood is.
  • I'm grateful for butter toffee creamer because it's perfection in pumpkin spice coffee made in my keurig.
  • I'm thankful for sparkles in my nail polish so there's always magic at the end of my fingtertips.
  • I'm thankful for curls in my hair, because when I have bedhead, it cracks me up every single time.
  • I'm grateful for fuzzy socks. Nothing says winter like snuggly, fuzzy socks.

Long before Mason left Willow Bend, Ryan met his mate and brought her home...this is the prequel to the Wolves of Willow Bend and the story of Ryan and Tiffany.

Ryan Huston serves the pack in all their public financial dealings. Connected politically and personally, he possesses a unique ability to segue into and out of human life. He’s never been afraid to use his animal’s dominance to his advantage and, though he and Toman—the Alpha of Willow Bend—are often at odds, his loyalty to the pack has never truly been tested. Not until he meets Tiffany.

Tiffany Anderson grew up hard in a world defined by its uncertainties. Meeting Giles Taglioni seemed like a happy accident turned fairy tale. Five years into the abusive marriage, Tiffany wants out. Tiffany knows Taglioni will never let go of his daughter—he’d kill her before he lets her take Alexis away from him. A desperate woman with no options until a chance encounter changes everything.

Ryan is like no one Tiffany’s ever met, but she doesn’t dare believe him when he offers to help her. Long ago made familiar with the monsters in the dark, she doesn’t dream of princes on white horses sweeping her away. She also never imagined a big, bad wolf was exactly what she needed.

Laurie Roma lives in Chicago and mainly writes contemporary, romantic suspense, and sci-fi romance. She has always loved immersing herself in a good book and now enjoys the pleasure of creating her own. She can usually be found tapping away on her keyboard, creating worlds for her characters while she listens to music. Of course her playlist depends on her mood...but then again, so does her writing.

An avid reader of the romance genre, nothing bothers her more than annoying characters. Seriously, who wants a happy ending for someone that pisses you off? She loves tough alpha-male heroes and strong heroines that have brains as well as beauty. Her novels are filled with both passionate romance and down and dirty lust-driven interludes, as she believes both are essential to a good love story. She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at

There are so many things I am grateful for in my life, including family, especially right now since my mom is going through chemo. I’m also so grateful for my good friends, who are there for me day-to-day, and of course my readers, who let me entertain them with my stories. But here are a few of the little things I am thankful for...

  • Naps in the middle of the day...
  • Alcohol, in all its various forms...
  • The burnt sugar topping on Crème brûlée...
  • Diet Coke, and of course...
  • Spell check!
